Beyond the flatline

After a long deep dark winter the spring is around the corner; the sun has stopped playing peek a boo behind the mountains. Its started to be above the horizon for longer and longer periods of time and now once again it has come here to stay and will shine ever so stronger, warming the earth, melting the winter snow, thawing the land.

Love has come out of winter hibernation, it has grown stronger and it’s shown how strong it is and how it can tackle the rough rides of life. It’s something new and needs to be felt in a new way, needs to be made even stronger, it needs to be taken care of and nurtured.

The Bhullars have got their marching orders and they are marching ahead, holding hands, shoulder to shoulder, pulling each other into step. They have a mission to accomplish: show the world they are force to be reckoned with “so don’t mess with us”. It’s time to set up base and make it our home – not just a house to live in: A HOME. Make it our own like the good old times, in our own crazy way with a wall of modern art and African elephants on the other. A room full of maps and a room coloured mustard, a room with red walls and Indian dresses and a room with chocolate walls and sky blue ceiling. A home where the bathroom leaked into the kitchen and ceiling fell through, where heating fans were on for a week 24/7 and at the same time we had 6 people staying in the house. A home where all 6 six had a bath from the sauce pan heated in the kitchen. A home where we had good times and bad times, happy times and sad times . This is what was lacking here but things have changed. It’s not a transit house anymore. It’s a home and we are going to make it OUR home. Thanks to Ikea online it is going to be our home. I missed the plot, the one who has moved so often, I should have known better. Wherever you are, make it your home otherwise you will never be home and always be in a transit going somewhere.

Life has changed to so much in the last few months. It feels like we are far better now then we ever were. We know each other better, understand the each other, try and give each other the support we need and talk to each other more and like the days gone by, the days we first fell in love with each other. I believe the bonds we forged then have always kept us strong as ever. We built a strong foundation for our relationship and whatever storms we face in our lives they might knock off a floor or two from the top but they bloody well can’t rock the dust off our foundations. They are built of love, companionship, openness, respect.

We have new times now. Life is no longer on pause. The team is stronger. The bonds are deeper. Life is full of meaning and purpose. The man is in the driving seat and his (eager to learn student) navigator by his side. They are back on the road of life.

Mission 1: to make a house their home. IKEA and handyman skills have put the wheels in motion. A touch of style and a sense of order will complete the task.

Mission 2: road-tripping across the face of the continent. The car is booked. The destination is unknown. There maybe detours to sort out some admin and re-routing to collect some friends. Fun is on the agenda and happy camping will be had.

Mission 3: cycling around the Nordic landscape. Beefing up and building stamina at the gym will be the forspiel. Buying a cycle to get around will follow. Then it’s all about where and when and how.

Life is a breath of fresh air. There is a real sense of fine-tuning the “new beginning” status. It’s all about planning the basics and leaving the rest up to chance – the equal balance of the two personas (the control-freak and the chancer) that make up this unbreakable duo. So it’s full speed ahead and no looking back.
